We hope you’ll consider the food pairing and find your new favourite bottle!
Why We Recommend These Three
- A local sake for sashimi – a taste of San'in to enjoy with seafood
- A crisp, versatile sake for everyday meals
- A Junmai to enjoy with meat – like reaching for a red wine
(1) Takaisami Junmai Ginjo Nakadare
Shipping: Japan, Australia
Rice Variety: Yamadanishiki, Tamasakae
Rice Polishing Ratio: 60%

A Local Sake for Sashimi – A Taste of San'in to Enjoy with Seafood
As someone from the San'in region, Takayū is a particularly special sake to me, as it is a local favourite from my home region.
A well-loved staple in the area, it is a bottle I would highly recommend enjoying alongside fish dishes.
Rather than being overly light and dry, this sake has a beautifully balanced umami character, while retaining a pleasantly dry finish. One of my favourite pairings is, of course, sashimi.
It works particularly well with fish that have a rich, savoury flavour, such as tuna. The sake brings out the natural umami of the fish, while its crisp finish refreshes the palate.
When enjoying it with raw fish, I recommend serving it chilled. That said, it is also delicious at room temperature or gently warmed, so why not experiment with different serving temperatures depending on the season and the dish?
(2) Toyonoume Junmai Ginjo Yoi-Yoi
Shipping: Japan, Australia, Taiwan
Rice Variety: Rice grown in Kōchi Prefecture
Rice Polishing Ratio: 60%

A Crisp, Versatile Sake for Everyday Meals
A clean and refreshing sake that is wonderfully easy to pair with food, making it a versatile choice for everyday dining.
One pairing I particularly recommend is with white fish. It works beautifully with sashimi, as well as richer dishes such as pan-fried white fish with butter.
The sake complements the delicate flavours of white fish without overpowering the dish, while its crisp, refreshing finish leaves the palate clean and ready for the next bite.
Think of it as you would a white wine – a versatile bottle that can be enjoyed with a wide variety of dishes.
If you have ever felt that pairing sake with food might be difficult, why not give this one a try?
(3) Sadaijin Junmai Sake
Shipping: Japan, Australia, Taiwan
Rice: Rice grown in Japan
Polishing Ratio: 65%

A Junmai to Enjoy with Meat – Like Reaching for a Red Wine
Brewed using cool, pristine spring water from the foothills of Mount Oze, this is one of Sadaijin’s most popular sake. A beautifully satisfying Junmai, it offers rich, pronounced rice umami while complementing rather than overpowering the food.
It is particularly well suited to full-flavoured dishes such as meat, making it a wonderful alternative to red wine at the dinner table. This is a food-friendly sake designed to sit alongside your meal and bring out the best in each dish.
Try serving it at room temperature or gently warmed to bring out even more of its rich umami character.
